Kunstlicht‘s fall 2015 issue is titled Impose Enact: The Artist’s Persona. Edited by VAMA alumni Angela Batholomew and Jesse van Winden, this issue explores how artistic personae are crafted, and for which purpose(s). Contributions include Philip Auslander taking stock of his previous work on personae in different types of performances, Jos ten Berge on “image management in outsider art,” Laurens Ham on the persona in the literary work of Arnon Grunberg, Sarah Walsh on the Mori Art Museum and its construction of a “uniquely Japanese” identity for artist Aida Makoto,, and Marieke van Wamel on Jheronimus Bosch. Sven Lütticken analyses the use of personae in performances by the V-Girls and introduces an extract from their performance script “Academia in the Alps: In Search of the Swiss Mis(s)” from 1988.
