Kunstlicht: Ut Pictura Poesis

13 Nov

“As is painting, so is poetry,” Horace contended. Are they different encodings of the same language? Do they reinforce each other? Or do they meet mainly in the boxing rink? In 2012’s double issue, Ut Pictura Poesis,  Kunstlicht investigates relationships between visual art and literature. Or, how the arts have never left each other’s sight, be it out of admiration, rivalry, or a little bit of both. With contributions by current VAMA student Roel Griffioen and VAMA alumnus Jane Boddy as well as Rachel Esner, Kent Minturn, Diederik Oostdijk, Marjolein van Tooren, and others. This issue’s featured artists are Artun Arasli, Eugène Brands, and Esther Walter.
