Lecture Guy Julier

5 Mar

On March 16th, VU University will host a lecture by Guy Julier, entitled Economies of Design: Deregulation, New Economy, Financialization. The talk is organized in the context of the Master in Design Cultures but is open to everyone.

Economies of Design: Deregulation, New Economy, Financialization will address the ascendancy of design since 1980. The economy of design has not just been about an increasingly pervasive consumer culture. An accumulation of economic turns has provided new territories and working practices for the designer. The talk will open a discussion about how we think about design in terms of value and where we could go next in terms of its economic processes.

Guy Julier is the University of Brighton Principal Research Fellow in Contemporary Design at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
